I'm No Michaelangelo, But I Painted One
Today is Friday and that means it is fresco day. I always kind of dread Fridays because it means I have to get up early. I started by going to the lab to get blood work done this morning. As usual my INR was low and my platelets are on their way down, but still a good number. I then walked across the river to the fresco studio. I was about half an hour to an hour later. Mario, my teacher, said it was ok if I came late since I had to get the blood work done. Once I got a cup of coffee and settled I started my fresco. I had drawn a figure from the Sistine Chapel and gotten my colors ready last week so I needed to do was transfer my drawing to the tile and paint it! Sounds easy doesn't it? It wasn't too hard actually. Transferring it to the tile was easy since I had poked hold in the lines of my drawing and rubbed chalk on top. Next I started painting. Mario showed me how and then let me finish it. It was kind of hard because I am by no means a painter. It took me a few hours, with a lunch break and some help from Mario, to finish it. I am very happy with how it came out. I can now say I have painted a fresco successfully. After I finished I got to leave class about 2 hours early! Unfortunately, it had started to rain very hard which meant I would be taking the bus home. The bus was packed. I was not sure where to get off so I just waited until I saw the bus stop down the street from SACI and my apartment. Of course as I got off the bus it stopped raining. I am really getting sick of all this rain. It has rained every day this week and is supposed to rain until Monday. I was supposed to meet someone to get my camera fixed today, but she cancelled and said we would go on Tuesday together. Then the girls from my class never called me about getting soccer tickets. I am kind of bummed out about that because I was pretty excited to go. I guess it is probably for the better since it is supposed to rain all weekend. Maybe I will go in a few weeks. So that was my day. Somewhat boring, but I did finish my first fresco!
