A Nice Saturday
It is Saturday and that means no classes and sleeping in! That is exactly what I did today. I slept until 10 am which I have not been able to do in a few weeks. I felt so good when I woke up and was instantly in a good mood. I hung out in my pajamas for about an hour talking to Stacy and then we decided to beat out the carpet that was in our room. After this I decided it was time for a shower because the carpet was gross. So I proceeded to take a nice hot shower and then do laundry because I realized I was wearing my last pair or sweat pants. Although I felt like doing nothing and enjoying the glorious day we had, it was warm and sunny outside, I had to get printing done for photo. My roommate, Sam, is a photo major and said she would help me after she was done with her Italian homework. So I waited until about 3 and then we went over to SACI and she showed me how to work the machines. While I was waiting to go over to SACI Stacy started cleaning our room. For some reason I found this to be hilarious and spent most of my time giggling with her. I was feeling pretty confident about getting these prints done. I took in my 3 negatives that actually had some images on them and made some contact sheets. When I took them out of the dark room to see what I could salvage to actually print, I saw maybe two images that were printable. Almost all of the images were blurry, fogged, and overexposed. I was so upset about this because I only had 2 more rolls to process and I wasn't sure they would come out alright. So I decided I would go downstairs to the processing room and get that done so if the negatives got messed up I could spend most of my time tomorrow out shooting. I had a little bit of a hard time opening the film, but after about 15 minutes I finally got them open. I think what I did wrong last time was I forgot to put the reels on the tube in the canister. This time I made sure to use this and everything. My next uh-oh moment was how much developer to use. I wasn't sure what number to use on the chart so I used the first number. There were no T.A.s around this weekend for me to ask so I had to do it alone. I then proceeded to go through the all the steps and got a phone call from Mom which always cheers me up. After rinsing the film I took them off the reels and saw images!! I was so excited that the images were there and not foggy. I had only about 15 minutes before SACI closed so I decided to wait until tomorrow to print contact sheets for them. I will find out tomorrow what shots of those will be printed. I am so excited and relived. After all this I went food shopping with Stacy and then came home and made myself some dinner. The dinner was good, but I got a stomach ache half way through. So I am now on the couch about to study a little bit for my Italian midterm that is on Thursday. So tomorrow will be spent shooting in the morning for my upcoming project then in the dark room printing. Wish me luck!
